South Carolina Man Wins 50 Pick 4 Prizes in Same Draw

Monday October 5th 2026

A South Carolina man has claimed $250,000 on Pick 4 after his unconventional strategy paid off in a recent draw.

The lucky winner, who has decided to remain anonymous, played the numbers 0-5-0-0 in the Pick 4 Evening game on August 18. However, instead of just playing the numbers once, he decided to buy 50 identical tickets from various convenience stores in Summerville.

Each one was a Straight play, so he needed to match the numbers in exact order to win, at odds of 1 in 10,000. If he’d selected a different combination on each ticket, he would have increased his chances of winning 50-fold.

At a total cost of $50, the tactic may have seemed flawed, but the Lowcountry player clearly felt that the possible reward outweighed the risk, and he was overjoyed to discover that the numbers 0-5-0-0 were indeed drawn.

By submitting 50 plays that were exactly the same, he was able to claim $250,000 instead of $5,000, turning one tidy win into a potentially life-changing one.

“I probably won’t play those numbers anymore,” the man told the South Carolina Education Lottery after finally coming forward to claim his money. “I’m not lucky enough for that to ever happen again.”

The SC Lottery did not disclose whether the winner had been using the same strategy for a while before his winning draw.

There were a remarkable 111 Straight winners in the Evening game on August 18, plus 362 more Straight winners who had added the Fireball option to their play.
